Today I shall rant,
and rant I shall.
For those of you who know me, are aware that I am not a stick figure.
No sir.
Nor am I a heffer at that.
But my question:
where is the line drawn on too skinny and too thick?
can such a line even be created?
I feel as though everyday I am being bombarded with different things telling me how I should be.
To dress,
to do my hair,
to weigh,
to make up my face,
my nails,
my teeth,
my skin,
even my personality.

With all these social networking sites I feel as though the pressure is everywhere.
Pinterest, mind you I love it, might possibly be the worst of all.
boards and boards filled with outfits I will never own,
crafts I will never do,
model children I may never have,
proposals so extravagant you cry,
dishes I will never have time to cook,
wedding decor that costs a fortune,
and perfectly fit bodies I will never achieve.

It's madness.
Why should I walk away from my computer feeling so bad about the way I am living?
I shouldn't.
And neither should you, because I know I am not the only one feeling this way.
It's as though the world is giving us a false sense of reality that will never be possible to have.
So, I'm putting my foot down.
I'm not saying I will ban my Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter.. because, lets be honest, I love them all.
But I will remember that I am not a product of the world,
that I am who I am and I won't let outside influences effect the way I feel about myself,
because after all...

Amen J.T.

  1. First, you are freaking gorgeous and have absolutely nothing to worry about! Second- Uhh, you just summed up everything that's been circling my brain for the past long while. My mom is a social worker at the counseling center at the U and she says that people come in all the time saying how everyone's lives are better than theirs based on things they see on Facebook. But the thing is, it's all just a facade. And we should be happy with our lives and who we are! Anyway love you and love this post!
